Silver and Blood Beginners’ Guide and Tier List

INTRODUCTION:
Silver and Blood is a narrative driven RPG auto battler (with some manual play). In this guide, we will cover everything you need to get started in the game. Topics include: re-rolling, redemption codes, general tips, team building, and a simplified tier list. If you are looking for a review of the game check out this post.

RE-ROLLING:
It is possible to re-roll if you are playing through the PC client. However, for this game I don’t think it’s necessary. There are a few reasons for this. This game is focused on getting duplicates. Meaning there’s a good chance you’ll get most of the units you need. This is achieved through rewards setup by the game that give premium currency, pull tickets, SSR selectors and SSR only pulls from the standard list. These systems help you to pull most of the units that you will need. At launch, if you do decide to re-roll, the main targets are usually Lamia, Van Helsing, Acappella, Starry-Eyed Aiona or any ancestral unit (red portrait background).

REDEMPTION CODES:
These redemption codes were available upon launch for each region. They may or may not still be active when you begin the game.

Global Region: 3D9EPF2222P, 9742BM2222Q, VQY9TW2222R
SEA Region: CX6DNN2222T, Q43EPB2222U, A9EJTD2222V, SAB0626

GENERAL TIPS
HOW TO PROGRESS:
Complete the main campaign as this will unlock new features. The game does a pretty good job of introducing new mode games as you unlock them while completing the main campaign.

SHARED EXPERIENCE:
The transfusion tree will be unlocked once you complete chapter 4-5 of the main campaign. The transfusion tree will allow your characters to ‘share’ their experience. Meaning you can level a core group of 5 units and other characters in the tree will obtain the lowest level among the group of original 5. This means that you will usually level up and place your SR level units as the reference point as it is easier to level up and gain duplicates of these units faster than an SSR. Re-setting a unit’s level is quite cheap so you can easily swap the SR later for your SSR once you get duplicates for them to extend their level cap. You use SR units first since you will get their duplicates much faster than your SSR characters.

SAVE RESOURCES IN THE EARLY GAME:
Resources to level up skills and gear is usually more restricted as you are progressing. Be selective in where you use them for skills and gear. Gear can generally be left unleveled until you start obtaining high tier gear (e.g. Tier 4 or higher).

HOW TO GAIN RESOURCES FOR PULLS:
There are various ways to gain resources for pulls. You can obtain quite a lot from playing through the main campaign and doing the daily quests/activities. You can also gain pulls from currency you can obtain from friends. These pulls are on a separate banner. From pulls themselves (when you gain duplicates), you can gain resources to use in the shop that allow you to purchase Perfect Shards. Once you gain enough (50) you have access to a guaranteed SSR pull from the standard pool. In addition, events are also another good source of pull tickets and currency. Some events also give you free pull tickets. Many featured units will also usually enter the general standard pool once their banner ends.

TEAM BUILDING:

Combat is mostly an auto battler with some manual play to cast ultimates. A balanced team usually contains a mix of various roles with at least one unit of each moon phase. The main roles in the game include: DPS (marksman, sorcerer), tank, fighter (hybrid of DPS and tank), assassin (can usually jump the backline) and healer/support. Your main DPS or sub DPS units are usually marksman or sorcerer or fighters or assassins. Damage units can usually specialize in AOE/cleave or single target and deal either physical or magical damage. Tanks are there to absorb or mitigate damage on the team. Fighters are a hybrid that can usually deal some damage and survive. Assassins can be critical in certain match ups as they can bypass the frontline to attack units in the back (usually ranged/support type enemy units). Finally, healers/support keep the team alive and provide useful buffs to allies or debuffs to enemies. A balanced team will generally contain some elements of 1-2 Tank/Fighter, 2-3 DPS, 0-1 Assassin, 1-2 Healers/Support. Of course, the exact lineup will change depending on the encounter. This is just a general overview of roles and they can be flexible (e.g. in different setups and fights you may get more damage from support or even sub-DPS units).

Should You Pull:
Timeless Aiona (Transcendant Aiona) – At the time of release she is one of the top, if not the very best DPS option. She can do both exceptional AOE damage and take down bosses. She’s a step above previous DPS units that have been released so far. Her kit allows her to provide herself with shields that in turn boosts her attacks.

CHARACTER TIER LIST:
This is a general tier list that is geared towards completely new players. It does not contain every unit in the game. Instead it highlights characters that stand out in their role and gives you an idea of who to aim for in order to create a balanced team. If a unit is not on the list, it does not mean it is not viable. Power will also depend on your duplicates/gear. This list is based on my own experience and opinions from the general community. Different game modes will require different factions. Hence, in the long term you will develop and use a wide range of characters. At launch, the most useful units are generally considered the ancestral characters (red colored background portrait) and Lamia, Van Helsing, Acappella and Starry-Eyed Aiona.

MARKSMAN: DPS
Van Helsing – [Ranged/AOE DMG]: Can boost own attack speed and critical rate. Good range and AOE damage.
Transcendent Noah
– [Ranged/AOE DMG/Summon]: Summons shades to deal damage and can boost own damage when shades die.

SORCERER: DPS
Lamia –
[Mid-Range/Bounce DMG/Healing]: Deals bounce damage and summons a Blood Servant. Can also provide team wide life steal.
Incendiary Agres –
[Mid-Range/Single Target DMG/AOE DMG]: Can boost own magic damage. Also ultimate initially deals damage to self, but then triggers a damage boost state called Flames of Creation.
Limine – [Mid-Range/AOE DMG]:Turns enemies into Blood Servants and also gains lifesteal when damaging them. Can also boost own damage and increase blood soul recovery.
Bella – [Mid-Range/Summon]: A very strong tank that can summon a variety of puppets that are targeted instead of her. Also heals allied summons.
Thibault – [Mid-Range/AOE DMG/Debuff]: Can debuff with a CRIT resist down (increases chance of taking CRIT damage to the enemy). Increases own CRIT DMG.
Agares – [Mid-Range/AOE DMG/Continuous DMG]: Can inflict continuous damage (affliction) and summon a phoenix.
Cecia – [Mid-Range/Bounce]: Summons spirits that do bounce damage (the next attack will target nearest enemy). Bounce damage can allow you to wipe out clusters of enemies that are close together. Pairs well with other units that can summon as she will create more spirits if there are 3 or more other summons present. Also provides a ALL DMG Up buff to summons. Can output a lot of DPS and outshine others despite being underrated.

Defender: Tank
Transcendent Ami
– [Melee/Control]: Can cast all damage and magic damage taken down on self, stun enemies and self heal.
Friedrich – [Melee/Shield]: Can apply shield to self and gains magic damage taken down while it is active.
Yggdrasill – [Melee/Gather/Healing]: Can gather, heal and reduce damage taken for the entire team. Also has passive health regen. Can provide a significant boost in survivability especially in certain encounters like PVP.
Theophane – [Melee/Move/Control]: Can taunt and provide physical damage taken down for the entire team. Can self heal and provide all damage down on self.

Fighter: Hybrid – DPS/Survival
Transcendent Hati
– [Melee/AOE DMG/Continuous DMG]: Can trigger and transfer continuous damage and debuff enemies (attack speed down).
Darcias – [Melee/AOE DMG/Continuous DMG]: Can self heal when damaging enemies with continuous damage (bleed). Can also inflict and double bleed stacks.
Augustine – [Melee/Control]: Can pull farthest enemies towards himself and stun them and mark enemies to take more damage from his attacks.

Assassin: Rush the backline
Loreli – [Control/Teleport]: Can crowd control units via sleep mechanic. Can also teleport around the map to strike units in the backline. During ultimate can boost own damage against sleeping units and bypass some magic defense.
Gilrain
– [Melee/Rush]: Can stun and buff own attack speed.
Nicole – [Melee/Rush/Continuous DMG]: Stacks continuous damage and starts with a low cost ultimate.

Healer/Support: Survival, buffs/debuffs
Seth
– [Mid-Range/Healing/Purify]: Reverts HP, heals and removes debuffs.
Acappella -[Ranged/Buff]: Increases blood soul recovery, heals and provides a variety of buffs (physical, magical damage up and crit rate up).
Starry-Eyed Aiona – [Mid-Range/Gather/Shield]: Can move, shield, apply physical damage taken down and heal allies.
Dalcarlo – [Ranged/AOE DMG/Debuff/Continuous DMG]: Can apply continuous damage (affliction) and a variety of debuffs (morph control, all damage down, all damage taken up).

EXPERIMENT:
Experiment with your team formations as there are a variety of synergies. This includes control effects, buffs, debuffs, summons, and types of damage, such as continuous damage. Even if a unit doesn’t contain certain tags they may in fact be able to support other units. For example, many of the summon units can boost other allied summons. There are a variety of teams you can build from tanky self sustaining teams to those with more AOE or single target damage or with a high level of control effects. This gives you tools to deal with a variety of encounters. By understanding the fight and enemies’ strengths/weakness you can then select the appropriate team. For instance, if the boss deals magic damage, selecting a defender or units that can reduce magic damage can make the fight much easier.

CLOSING THOUGHTS:
There’s quite a lot to learn in the beginning, but as your roster grows and you gain more experience you’ll be able to put together teams for a variety of encounters. Use the units that you like and enjoy the game. Any tier list is just a guide and there’s always room to find ways to make certain teams work for different fights.
